A Treasure of Fall

This very hungry caterpillar arrived in our classroom one day last week.  He ate and ate and ate!  He also made a rather large mess in the bottom of his enclosure. . . .  the kids loved it!!!  However, Friday he stopped eating and began pacing back and forth across the top of the enclosure.  we suspected he was thinking about making his chrysalis.  When I stopped by the classroom Sunday afternoon, there it was, a beautiful, milky green, chrysalis!  We are very excited to see the monarch unfurl. . . . and slightly worried about how chilly it is getting outside.  Yet, we saw a monarch butterfly, just yesterday, flitting around the playground.
